    Backpacking Garni is such a fun experience as you’d never run out of things to do. And in this travel blog I’ll share with you some of my top places to visit in Garni.

    Going on a 2 days trip to Garni is sufficient to see some of the city’s top sights. So buckle on and let’s explore Garni.

    1. Temple of Garni


    Temple of Garni is an ancient colonnaded temple belonging to the ancient Greek era.
    Tall columns, ornamental friezes are some of the highlights of Temple of Garni. This thousands of years temple is known for its classic Greek architecture. Temple of Garni is essentially a pagan temple, and a symbol of country’s pre-Christian times.
    The greek temple is located at an elevation of 1,396 m (4,580 ft). On 1975 the greek temple was opened for the public.

    2. Garni Gorge


    Carved by the free flowing river below, Garni Gorge is a gorgeous gorge. Right among the top places to visit in Garni is the Garni Gorge. It is sandwiched between the two hills and a beautiful stream runs through it. The place has everything – amazing rock formations, crystal clear water and lush greenery.
    The scenic nature trail is the perfect way to enjoy the nature.

    3. Geghard


    Geghard is a centuries old religious complex located near the city of Garni.
    The monastery is noted for its beautiful chapel, old library and cloister. The monastery also houses religious scholars and monks. Geghard is a nice tranquil place away from the chaos.
    The style in which the monastery is built is Armenian Architecture. It was designated as world heritage site in 2000 (24th session).

    Havuts Tar is a religious complex founded centuries ago.
    The monastery features a beautiful church, religious library & a museum with historical artifacts. The monastery is built in a Armenian Architecture style.

    5. Mashtots Hayrapet Church of Garni


    Mashtots Hayrapet Church of Garni is an interesting church that can be found in Garni. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Garni trip.
    The high vault has lot of details built into it. The ancient relic is more than noteworthy. The fab views are something to be seen though.
    The stained glass windows are particularly stunning to look at. Take the stairs to reach the top. The church is built in a Armenian Architecture style.

    6. Aghjots Vank

    Aghjots Vank is a landmark monastery built centuries ago.
    Aghjots Vank is a nice tranquil place away from the chaos. The monastery also houses religious scholars and monks. The monastery is noted for its beautiful chapel, old library and cloister.
    The monastery is built in a Armenian Architecture style. Gregory the Illuminator is considered to be the founder of the monastery.

    7. Azat Reservoir


    Azat Reservoir is a big water body, a reservoir, located in Garni area. Add it to your Garni trip if you have time. Azat Reservoir was constructed as an artificial body of water for the purpose of water storage and supply. Azat Reservoir is a great spot for relaxation with numerous recreational options.
