    Backpacking Vagharshapat is such a fun experience as you’d never run out of things to do. And in this travel blog I’ll share with you some of my top places to visit in Vagharshapat.

    Going on a 3 days trip to Vagharshapat is sufficient to see some of the city’s top sights. So let’s begin our trip to Vagharshapat, shall we?

    1. Zvartnots Cathedral


    Zvartnots Cathedral is a majestic Cathedral standing tall in the city of Vagharshapat, Armenia.
    Also, scroll through the brilliantly crafted statues of Zvartnots Cathedral. The cathedral is conveniently located in the city’s old town. The cathedral is adorned with a beautiful round dome.
    Listening to the old organ play is a fantastic experience. The frescoes are lovable even if you are not into art. The cathedral is built in a Armenian Architecture style.
    The cathedral stands tall at a height of 45 m. The materials used in the construction include Tufa, Pumice, Obsidian.

    2. Etchmiadzin Cathedral

    Etchmiadzin Cathedral is an old Cathedral located in the Vagharshapat city. It scores high in the list of the best places to visit in Vagharshapat.
    Walking inside the crypt might sound spooky but is actually fun. On the church wall you will find several religious artwaork hanging. The ornate interior is eye-catching.
    Statues are the live examples of master craftsmanship. The soothing tunes of the old organ has a calming effect. The cathedral is built in a Armenian Architecture style.
    Gregory the Illuminator is the principal architect of the cathedral.

    Saint Hripsime Church is an old church located in the city of Vagharshapat.
    I’d recommend the guided tour, it looks good. The fab views are something to be seen though. The stained glass window is an art piece in itself.
    The church looks imposing as if staring right back at you. The cemetry has got quite a few notable person buried.

    4. Saint Gayane Church

    Saint Gayane Church is a beautiful church located in the Vagharshapat city. One of the favorite tourist places to visit in Vagharshapat is the Saint Gayane Church.
    The church just kinda looks very imposing. The stunning stained glass windows are worthy a long look. Views from the top are simply gorgeous.
    There is a cemetry on the church grounds, quite peaceful to walk around. The views are just wonderful. The style in which the church is built is Armenian Architecture.
    It was designated as world heritage site in 2000 (24th session).

    5. Shoghakat Church

    Shoghakat Church is a house of Christian worship located in the city of Vagharshapat.
    The high vault has lot of details built into it. The church has a beautifully decorated altar. The views from up here are just fabulous.
    The ancient relic adds to the charms of the church. Take the guided tour if you want to make it more interesting. The Shoghakat Church follows the Armenian Architecture style.
    On 1694 the church was opened for the public. It was designated as world heritage site in 2000 (24th session).

    6. Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin


    Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is a religious sanctuary, a monastery located close to the Vagharshapat city. Add it to your Vagharshapat trip if you have time.
    The monastery also houses religious scholars and monks. Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin is a nice tranquil place away from the chaos. The monastery is noted for its beautiful chapel, old library and cloister.
    The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin follows the Armenian Architecture style. The chief architect of the monastery is Gregory the Illuminator.

    7. Alex and Marie Manoogian Treasury House Museum


    Alex and Marie Manoogian Treasury House Museum is a small museum in Vagharshapat city.

    8. Church of the Holy Archangels

    Church of the Holy Archangels is an interesting church that can be found in Vagharshapat. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Vagharshapat trip.
    Guided tour is recommend if you are looking to understand more. You will find choir paintings to be quite interesting. Take the stairs to reach the top.
    There is a cute little chapel here as well. The adjoining cemetry has got quite a few famous people buried. The style in which the church is built is Armenian church architecture.
    Jim Torosian is the principal architect of the church. The church has a total width of 15 m. On 5 November 2011 the church was opened for the public.
