    Backpacking Grodno is a great fun and a must do for every solo traveler to Belarus. And in this travel blog I’ll share with you some of my top places to visit in Grodno.

    1. Old Grodno Castle


    Old Grodno Castle is an old fortified castle located on the hilltop. Checkout the dark underground wine cellar, which adds an interesting character to the place.
    The interiors of the castle look impressive spceially the spiral staircase will catch your eye. The building has been expanded many times over the years. The drawbridge provides a passageway to get in.
    Old Grodno Castle is a castle of high strategic importance. The castle was an important aspect in the city’s defence system.

    2. Kalozha Church


    Kalozha Church is an interesting church that can be found in Grodno. It is one of the top places to visit in Grodno.
    There is a cute little chapel here as well. The majestic altar is the centerpiece of the church. The high vault has lot of details built into it.
    Guided tour is available and is very informative. The interior floor is decorated quite beautifully. Piotar Miłanieh is the principal architect of the church.

    3. Park Zhilibera


    Park Zhilibera is a public park located in the Grodno city.
    There is a small cafe attached to the park. Gazebos make for the picture perfect backgrounds. The park makes for a great spot for taking pictures.
    Locals throng to the park as well. The flowers are as colorful as they come.

    4. New Hrodna Castle

    New Hrodna Castle is a medieval fortified castle perched over the top of hill. It is a popular tourist destination in Grodno. The castle offers sweeping panoramic of the entire area.
    A big gate provides entry into the castle. The castle plays host to regular events, hit it up. Visitor center will provide the required info.
    The castle has undergone expansion many times. The castle is located outside the city so plan accordingly. The architectural styles that the castle is built in are Rococo, Neoclassical architecture.
    The Giuseppe de Sacco, Carl Frederick Pöppelmann, Joachim Daniel von Jauch, Johann Friedrich Knöbel are the main architects of the castle.

    5. Grodno Zoo


    Grodno Zoo is a popular zoo in Grodno with a variety of animals.
    It is spread over a large area and requires a longer visit. Take a relaxing walk and enjoy your time at the zoo. The big wild cats are one of the prime draws of Grodno Zoo.
    Take part in the feeding session, its a fun way to interact with animals. The many animal species of the zoo will keep you entertained. On 1927 the zoo was opened for the public.

    If you want to indulge in the art of photography this is just the right place. Lawns are well maintained and well manicured. Walking on the walkways is a very enjoyable experience.
    The flowers are pink and pretty. Also, scroll through the brilliantly crafted statues of Kaložski Park.

    Dżungla park is a green space open for public in the city of Grodno.
    The park also has a calming pond. The park is well liked by the locals. Gazebo is a good option to spend time idly.
    The small cafe is a good place to relax a bit. The park has a nice manicured lawn.

    Great Synagogue is a prominent synagogue located in the older part of the Grodno city. It is one of the popular attractions in Grodno.
    With a large chandelier the interior of Great Synagogue is equally beautiful too. Great Synagogue is undoubtedly a jewel of Jewish heritage. The dome of the Great Synagogue adds to the beautiful architecture.
    The in-house museum presents interesting collection on Jewish history of Grodno. Some of the architectural styles that the synagogue reflect are Gothic Revival architecture, Moorish Revival architecture. The chief architect of the synagogue is Iya Frunkin.
    The construction started in 1576.

    The church has a beautifully decorated altar. Stop and take a moment to look at the choir paintings. And the altar pieces will steal your attention.
    The views are just wonderful. If you look below you will the floor decoration quite interesting. The style in which the church is built is Gothic Revival architecture.

    Ažeška House-museum is an interesting museum located in the Grodno city. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Grodno trip.
    For souvenirs you can browse the attached gift shop. The museum boasts of pretty many artifacts. Kids will have a great time for sure.
    The museum can be enjoyed by people of all ages. The museum makes for a good rainy day activity. On 2001 the museum was opened for the public.
