Georgia has long been my favorite, with great many sights to see. It doesn’t matter whether you’re here for fast-track travel or leisurely sightseeing; there is an endless supply of things to do and sights to see in Telavi.

1. Batonis Tsikhe
Located on top of a high hill, Batonis Tsikhe is a beautiful medieval structure.
Occasionally, you will find information boards giving you details about the place. On this spot you will see buttresses, crenellations and arrow loops all part of defensive installations.

At the end of the tour you’ll get the opportunity to taste some of the fine wine produced here. You will be a part of small group which will be taken to different locations during the trip.
With so much to offer, no wonder Shalauri Wine Cellar is one of the top things to do in Telavi.

3. Akhali Shuamta
Akhali Shuamta is a landmark monastery built centuries ago.
In the monastery complex you will find the brilliant library with priceless manuscripts. The castle offers sweeping panoramic of the entire area.

4. Old Shuamta
Old Shuamta is a centuries old religious complex tucked away in a wooded area near Telavi.
Check out the monastery’s pharmacy, dating back hundred of years, and still in operation. There are workshops on candle making and winemaking held by the resident monks.

5. Ikalto Monastery
Ikalto Monastery is a religious sanctuary, a monastery located in a natural setting close to Telavi.
With church’s fabulous acoustics, attend one of the monastic choir concerts guranteed to have a spellbinding effect. The somber monastery with its minimal decor or rather a lack of, befits the simplistic monastic ways.

6. Nadikvari
Albeit small Nadikvari is a pretty park located in one of the popular districts in Telavi.
7. Vaziani Winery
A winery with a nice vineyard and a wine making facility.
A tour of the winery’s vat rooms and cellars is included, as is the walk through the rest of the production facility. Sampling sessions are towards the end and are generally hosted in the lovely gardens of the estate.
If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Telavi trip.

8. Telavi Wine Cellar
A winery in Telavi with a fantastic facility producing fine quality wine.
The most interesting part are the tour of the vat rooms and cellars, where you’ll learn about the art of wine-making and storage processes.. During the trip you will ferried in a small bus or a shared car.

9. Castle of King Erekle II
Castle of King Erekle II is an age-old fortified structure sitting on a hilltop.
There are trails running around the castle which takes you through the woods and to a series of vantage points. Castle of King Erekle II makes for a great sunny day activity.
Add it to your Telavi trip if you have time.

A winery with a tour of the vineyard and wine making facilities.
You will be traveling with a group while you visit this beautiful wine region. And if you want to learn more about winemaking in this region of Georgia consider staying at a local guest house.
