Built on the river of the same name, Tungabhadra Dam is a 50+ years old structure with a huge reservoir. Tourists here can enjoy the gardens, the views of the lake and the musical fountains in the evening.

It can be a fun half a day trip, especially if you have not been to a dam in India before. Great way to kill time on your last day in Hampi or if you are waiting for your night bus from Hampi to Bangalore or Goa.

Unfortunately, there is no direct bus between Hampi and Tungabhadra Dam. So, you have to first Hospet and then take a bus to Tungabhadra. Luckily, there is a direct bus from Hampi to Hospet bus station (takes 30-40 minutes; costs 13 rupees), and once there from Hospet bus station get on to a bus to Tungabhadra Dam. The journey takes about an hour.

From the entrance of the dam you need to take a govt. run which will take you to the base of the dam.
