In my opinion, 3 days in Arnhem is good time to see the best that city has to offer. But if you can add 2-3 days more you’d be able to experience rather than ‘see’ that an ordinary tourist does. Here are the best things to see in Arnhem along with a list of the most interesting things to do in Arnhem:
1. Hoge Veluwe National Park
Hoge Veluwe National Park is a nature and animal reserve located not far from Arnhem.
As for wild life, a variety of animal and bird species is found here. Start with the visitor center to help yourself get oriented.

- Spread over an area of 53 sq. km, it is difficult to take-in all in one go.
- Some of the things Hoge Veluwe National Park features include ares with sand dunes and heathlands.
2. Burgers’ Zoo
A nice city zoo sheltering a myriad of animals.
Visits timed to coincide with feeding periods will put you up and personal with animals. It also has an animal hospital that cares for the zoo’s whole population.

- Spread over an area of 45 ha, it is difficult to take-in all in one go.
- The zoo houses an indoor adventure playground.

National Park Veluwezoom is a forest reserve of national importance found in the Arnhem region.

Dedicated to country’s world war 2 history, Airbornemuseum Hartenstein makes for an interesting visit.
The exhibits include military equipments and assisting technology such as maps, tanks, military equipments and vehicles. Not just a museum, the place is a stark reminder of human cruelty.

6. Park Sonsbeek
Park Sonsbeek is a beautifully landscaped park spread over a large area in Arnhem.
It is a good way to reconnect with nature – relax under the shady trees, watch the kids play.
The park has a small lake where you can spot ducks swimming enjoying their day. Stroll along the pathways and rest on the grassy areas, find your own spot of relaxation.

7. Castle Doorwerth
Located on top of a high hill, Castle Doorwerth is a beautiful medieval structure.

Located in the heart of Arnhem, Foundation Eusebius Arnhem, is another of the city’s architectural masterpieces.
A special feature of the basilica is its high altar and ceiling, which are both decorated with beautiful artwork. A donation at the entrance is optional but encouraged, since it will go towards the preservation of this piece of history.

- Foundation Eusebius Arnhem is also known as the Grote Kerk or the Eusebiuskerk.

9. Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery
Follow the winding paths lead upto a sprawling centuries old burial ground.
The entrance is through a rustic but ornamental gate, covered with vines all over. As you take peaceful walk, you would come across myriad of structures – tombstones, sculpters and a chapel.

- The villa was built somewhere around 18th-century.

12. Doornenburg Castle
Inside the chataeu, you will find varied pieces of art including a series of finely painted frescoes. A very wealthy family constructed this chataeu, and it definitely looks like so.
