I have traveled to Thailand multiple times and here are some of the Thailand backpacking itineraries that I had build and executed during my solo trips to Thailand.
3 days in Thailand Itinerary
Bangkok
Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok in morning/early afternoon. Bangkok sightseeing.
Day 2: Take a day trip from Bangkok. e.g. Authaya.
Day 3: Take another day trip/ half-day trip or/and shopping in Bangkok.
5 days in Thailand Itinerary
Bangkok
Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok in morning/early afternoon. Bangkok sightseeing. Catch the overnight bus to Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai
Day 2: Reach Chiang Mai early morning. Sightseeing in the town. Visit night market in the evening.
Day 3: Ride to Doi Suthep. Catch the overnight bus back to Bangkok.
Bangkok
Day 4: Reach early in Bangkok. Bangkok sight seeing during the full day/ take a day trip. Late evening travel to Pattaya
Pattaya
Day 5: Full day in Pattaya. Leave Pattaya to Bangkok in the late evening.
7 days in Thailand Itinerary
Bangkok
Day 1: Arrive in Bangkok in morning/early afternoon. Catch the overnight bus to Chiang Mai.
Chiang Mai
Day 2: Reach Chiang Mai early morning. Sightseeing in the town. Visit night market in the evening.
Day 3: Ride to Doi Suthep. Catch the overnight bus back to Bangkok.
Bangkok
Day 4: Reach early in Bangkok. Bangkok sight seeing during the full day. Take the overnight bus to Ko Samui island.
Ko Samui
Day 5: Reach Ko Samui early in the morning. Hire a two wheeler gearless motorbike for Ko Samui sightseeing.
Day 6: Visit Marine national park, Ko Samui for full day. Take the evening bus back to Bangkok.
Bangkok/ Pattaya
Day 7: One more day of sightseeing in Bangkok/ shopping in Bangkok. Or spend a day in Pattaya, stay in the night and leave early morning from Pattaya to Bangkok.
