    Backpacking Brest is a rich and delightful experience with so much to do and see. And in this travel blog I’ll share with you some of my top places to visit in Brest.

    5 days in Brest is good time to see the best that city has to offer. So buckle on and let’s explore Brest.

    1. Brest Fortress


    Brest Fortress are the remains of an fort perched atop a cliff & offering fantastic views of the area. Follow the hiking trail leading up to the fort ruins. Foundation stones lay bare in this historic fort ruin.
    You can still see the abandoned old cannons in the area. Visit the fort ruins for sunset views. On 26 April 1842 the fort ruins was opened for the public.

    2. Berestye Archeological Museum


    Berestye Archeological Museum is a museum collecting and presenting archaeological artefacts. It is one of the popular attractions in Brest.
    The chief architect of the archaeology museum is Viktor Kramarenko. On 1982 the archaeology museum was opened for the public.

    3. Brest Railway Museum


    Brest Railway Museum is a railway museum located in Brest city.
    Also, look closely at the elegant train carriages. Brest Railway Museum is really a museum for the train buffs. In my opinion the rustic steam engines are the highlight of the museum.

    Albeit small Park Kul’tury I Otdykha is a mall but pretty park located in the city of Brest. It scores high in the list of the best places to visit in Brest.

    Brest Fortress Museum is a museum of prominent importance located in the city of Brest.

    6. Brest Millennium Monument


    Brest Millennium Monument is a heart-felt monument located in Brest. It is a popular tourist destination in Brest.
    The chief architect of the monument is Alexei Andreyuk. Alexei Andreyuk and Alexei Pavluchuk is the one who designed this magnificent monument. The monument stands tall at a height of 15.1 metres (50 ft).
    On July 2009 the monument was opened for the public. The construction of the monument finally completed on 2011. The material used in the construction include granite and bronze.

    7. Winter Garden


    Winter Garden is a public park located in the Brest city.
    The park has a playground too. The park has plenty of walkways to keep you busy. The fountain lit up brilliantly at the night.
    And look at those pretty, pretty flowers. I loved them. The park even has a gazebo, great for those pictures.

    8. Kholm Gate


    Kholm Gate is an old gate providing an entry portal to the old town of Brest. It is one of the most popular tourist places in Brest.
    The old gate is designed in a classical style. Turrets and medallions adorn this majestic gate. The Kholm Gate has a beautifully carved exterior facade, with lot of detailing.

    9. Brestskaya Krepost’


    Brestskaya Krepost’ is an rustic fort in Brest with a long lost history.
    The fort is beautifully constructed, largely made up of stone. The fort has a fab location – on a hill top. Live events organised here makes it even from fun.
    The views from up here are just fabulous. The fort is most definitely a popular choice to visit. On 26 April 1842 the fort was opened for the public.

    10. St. Simeon Cathedral


    St. Simeon Cathedral is an old Cathedral located in the Brest city.
    The cathedral is conveniently located in the city’s old town. The statues placed here are stunning to say the least. The soothing tunes of the old organ has a calming effect.
    The tombs houses some of the famous people of Brest. Awake the adventurer insider you and go take a look in the crypt. The style in which the cathedral is built is Russian Revival architecture.

    11. Holy Resurrection Cathedral

    Holy Resurrection Cathedral is a beautiful Cathedral situated in Brest. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Brest trip.
    The ornate interior is eye-catching. Hanging on the walls of the cathedral are the invaluable frescoes. The cathedral houses the tombs of important dignitaries of that era.
    Listening to the old organ play is a fantastic experience. On the church wall you will find several religious artwaork hanging. On 1995 the cathedral was opened for the public.

    12. Terespol Gate

    Terespol Gate is a medieval gate in city’s old town.
    Decorated with Turrets and medallions the old gate stands tall as the guard of the old town.

    City History Museum is a city museum with a focus on collecting items from the local area. Add it to your Brest trip if you have time.

    14. Muzhestvo


    Muzhestvo is a war memorial of national importance honouring courage and valor. Muzhestvo is dedicated to the fallen soldiers, victims of the war, who lost their lives.
    Looking close at the inscription will brief you on the history. The war memorial is quite emotional and moving, at least I felt so.

    15. Memorial Strazham Granits

    Memorial Strazham Granits is a war memorial of national importance honouring courage and valor. Add it to your Brest trip if you have time. Memorial Strazham Granits is dedicated to the fallen soldiers, victims of the war, who lost their lives.
    Memorial Strazham Granits remains as a poignant reminder to the country’s past.

    16. Park Voinov-Internatsionalistov

    Park Voinov-Internatsionalistov is a small but pretty park located in the city of Brest.

    17. Brest Castle


    Brest Castle is an old fortified castle located on the hilltop. Add it to your Brest trip if you have time. Checkout the dark underground wine cellar, which adds an interesting character to the place.
    The castle is located bit outside the town, but it isn’t to reach. However, crowding is bit of a problem here. The interiors of the castle look impressive spceially the spiral staircase will catch your eye.

    18. Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross


    Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is a house of Christian worship located in the city of Brest.
    Take the guided tour if you want to make it more interesting. The church has a beautifully decorated altar. The views are just wonderful.
    Raise your head to admire the high vault. Bow down and you will see the colorfully painted floor.

    19. Church of the Holy Trinity in Čarnaŭčycy

    Church of the Holy Trinity in Čarnaŭčycy is an interesting church that can be found in Brest. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Brest trip.
    The church just kinda looks very imposing. Get on the stairs and keep climbing, you will reach the top, eventually. Drop your head to admire the prettily decorated floor.
    The old relic can’t be and shouldn’t be missed. The high vault has lot of details built into it. The Church of the Holy Trinity in Čarnaŭčycy follows the Gothic art style.

    Old Town is the historical heart of the Brest city.

    All in all, whether you are a backpacker, a solo traveler or a female traveler, a couple or a family, there are plenty of things to do in Brest for everyone. There is something about Brest, that pulls you back to this place again and again, to explore more and more.
