Backpacking Polatsk is such a fun experience as you’d never run out of things to do. And in this travel blog I’ll share with you some of my top places to visit in Polatsk.

1. Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk
Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk is a majestic Cathedral standing tall in the city of Polatsk, Belarus.
The elaborate dome of the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Polotsk is one of the centerpiece of attraction. Statues are the live examples of master craftsmanship. The cathedral is conveniently located in the city’s old town.
The frescoes in the cathedral are worth looking at. Listening to the old organ play is a fantastic experience. Johann Christoph Glaubitz is the principal architect of the cathedral.
Some of the famous burials here include Vseslav of Polotsk.

Monaster Przemienienia Pańskiego i św. Eufrozyny Połockiej w Połocku is a nice tranquil place away from the chaos. The monastery features a beautiful church, religious library & a museum with historical artifacts. The monastery also houses religious scholars and monks.
On 1125 the monastery was opened for the public.

3. National Polatsk Historical and Cultural Open-air Museum
National Polatsk Historical and Cultural Open-air Museum is a model village showcasing the heritage of the people of the area. National Polatsk Historical and Cultural Open-air Museum gives you an interesting representation of rustic village Life.
And the open air museum is covered is a large area. Visiting the open air museum is truly an immersive experience. On special days, mainly on local festivals, you will see the residents dancing and singing.
Be prepared to walk around a lot. If you are hungry head to the stalls selling traditional food.
4. Transfiguration Church, Polotsk
Transfiguration Church, Polotsk is a house of Christian worship located in the city of Polatsk. Right among the top places to visit in Polatsk is the Transfiguration Church, Polotsk.
There is a cute little chapel here as well. The church stands tall and even seems imposing on you. You need to climb up quite a bit to get to the top.
The religious paintings at choir are worth second look. Views from the top are simply gorgeous. On 1128 the church was opened for the public.

Prirodno-Ekologicheskiy Muzey is a beautifully sculpted statue which was erected as a monument in the Polatsk city.

The monument-chapel of Heroes War of 1812 in Polack is a heart-felt monument located in Polatsk. If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Polatsk trip.

Polotsk museum of medieval knighthood is a beautifully sculpted statue which was erected as a monument in the Polatsk city.

9. Bogoyavlenskiy Sobor
Bogoyavlenskiy Sobor is a beautiful Cathedral situated in Polatsk. Add it to your Polatsk trip if you have time.
On the church wall you will find several religious artwaork hanging. The tombs houses some of the famous people of Polatsk. Excellent sweeping views of the city can be had from cathedral’s tower.
The frescoes are lovable even if you are not into art. The statues placed here are stunning to say the least. The style in which the cathedral is built is Baroque architecture.
On 1761 the cathedral was opened for the public.

10. Category-Monument to the Liberators of Polack
Category-Monument to the Liberators of Polack is a small but important monument in Polatsk.
On 1981 the small monument was opened for the public.
11. Children’s Museum of Polack
Children’s Museum of Polack is a museum in Polatsk offering great fun for the children. Add it to your Polatsk trip if you have time.
