In my opinion, 5 days in Sarajevo is good time to see the best that city has to offer. But if you can add 2-3 days more you’d be able to experience rather than ‘see’ that an ordinary tourist does. Let me share with you the best things to do in Sarajevo and tips to make the most out of your trip.
1. Baščaršija
Baščaršija is a charming old market where the Sarajevo locals come to buy their needs.
Wander from stall to stall, chat with owners to owners, a good way to kill few hours. You might feel as if the whole neighborhood has descended into one place.

2. Sarajevo Tunnel
Very difficult to tread, Sarajevo Tunnel is a network of historic subterranean tunnels.
This extensive network of underground tunnels was built as a shelter and passage during the times of war.
Guided tours of the underground tunnels is available and is recommended too.

- Built in 1993, the underground tunnels is also known as Tunnel of Hope.

12. Sacred Heart Cathedral
Sacred Heart Cathedral is a charming old Cathedral located in the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The entrance features an elegant portico and a succession of magnificent archways. The inside of the cathedral is adorned with a dazzling array of intricate frescoes depicting important Christian events.

14. Svrzo’s House
Svrzo’s House is a museum dedicated to one of the most prominent personalities of the city.

15. Eternal flame
A beautiful monument located in central Sarajevo, Eternal flame makes for a quick visit.

18. Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos
Cathedral of the Nativity of the Theotokos is a majestic Cathedral standing tall in the city of Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
One of the most impressive structures in Sarajevo, the cathedral boasts of a magnificently built front façade topped with sculptures of the twelve Apostles. On a regular basis, the Basilica hosts classical music and organ performances that you can hear even on the square outside.

19. Bijela Tabija
Offering fantastic views of the area, Bijela Tabija are the remains of an old fort perched atop a cliff.
You can follow the hiking trail which leads to this old fort. Not much to see actually only the foundation stones lying bare in this historic fort ruin.

Ilidža Thermal Riviera is a spa complex well known for its thermal pools.

Ferhadija is a pedestrian walkway in the heart of the city of Sarajevo.

But beyond the famous attractions in Sarajevo, there is something that pulls you back again and again, perhaps it’s the city’s charm. All in all, whether you are a backpacker, a solo traveler, slow traveler, a female traveler or a couple there are plenty of interesting things to do in Sarajevo for everyone.
