The church’s side altars have a number of magnificent pieces of art by some of the England’s top painters. The cathedral’s importance is further underscored by the presence of the tomb of the patron saint.

In my opinion the rustic steam engines are the highlight of the museum.

Clifford’s Tower is a fortified medieval tower located in the city of York.
It was once part of the defensive walls which surrounded the city.

7. York city walls

These tall and seemigly imperious walls were once an integral part of the city’s defence system. Consider walking along the path which runs parallel to the wall admiring the amazing craftsmanship.
As it get hot during the day time, make sure you visit either early or late in the day. With numerous entrances and decorated with religious iconography, it was these walls that stood as first line of defence.
8. York’s Chocolate Story
It is a museum that explores the history and evolution of chocolate in the region.
And not only that, you can also try on a variety of chocolates here.
Add it to your York trip if you have time.
