A trip to Lithuania will sooner or later take you to the gorgeous Trakai. Whether you’re coming for business or pleasure, there’s always something to do and places to see in Trakai.

An itinerary of 3 days is good to see the most popular tourist attractions in Trakai. But if you can add 2-3 days more you’d be able to experience rather than ‘see’ that an ordinary tourist does. 1. Trakai Island Castle
Best known for its legendary fairy style appearance, Trakai Island Castle is to be seen to be believed.
The castle features pointed turrets typical of a fairystyle architecture.

- The fairytale castle is located on a small lake island.
- The fairytale castle houses Lithuanian culture museum.

2. Lake Galvė
Lake Galvė is a calm and beautiful body of water located in Trakai.
With water so clear that you can see through, swimming is a good option. You can hike in one of the trails passing through the area.
Quick Facts:
- Spreading over an expanse of 3.61 km², it’s difficult to see it all in one go.
- The total number of islands is roughly 21.
- The lake houses 21 islands and the iconic Trakai Island Castle.
A natural crowd puller, Lake Galvė is right up there in the list of best things to do in Trakai.
3. Trakai Historical National Park
Trakai Historical National Park is a nature and animal reserve located not far from Trakai.
You’ll discover numerous rivers and lakes in the park accounting for a large of its area. If you are an outdoorsy type you’d fit right in this beautiful landscape.

- Spread over an area of 82 km², it is difficult to take-in all in one go.
- It was in 1992 when it was established.

4. Užutrakis Manor
Užutrakis Manor is a manor house as grand as it gets.

Trakai History Museum is a museum in Trakai documenting in details the region’s cultural history.

6. Užutrakis Manor Estate
Užutrakis Manor Estate is a manor house as grand as it gets.

- Evident throughout its structure is the neoclassical style.
7. Akmena Lake Beach
Akmena Lake Beach is an alluring lake, a drop from heaven with clean, clear water.
Enjoy the boating, quite an experience in the tranquil waters of the lake. In the summer visitors flock to enjoy water activities such as canoeing, boating and swimming.

8. St. Mary Church
A beautiful addition to city’s architecture, St. Mary Church is a pretty old church located in Trakai.
A donation at the entrance is optional but encouraged, since it will go towards the preservation of this piece of history. As this is a sacred location, anyone who want to enter are advised to cover their knees and shoulders.

- The church belongs to the Roman Catholic faith, but is visited by others too.

9. Trakai Kenesa
Trakai Kenesa is a prominent synagogue located in the older part of the Trakai city.
This well preserved synagogue is really a gem of Jewish heritage. The synagogue interior are rich and detailed.

- The synagogue was opened on 1894.
If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Trakai trip.

10. Skaistis
Skaistis is an alluring lake, a drop from heaven with clean, clear water.
The lake has a serenity around it that wraps up on you quickly. If you like bird watching, this is the place to go, as the area is home to over hundred-fifty different species of migrating birds.

- Spread over an area of 2.82 km², it is difficult to take-in all in one go.
11. Orthodox Church of the Nativity
If small, cute churches interests you, then Orthodox Church of the Nativity definitely worth your time.
Making a small donation is always appreciated. All in all this small church makes for a quick stop.
