It doesn’t matter whether you’re here for fast-track travel or leisurely sightseeing; there is an endless supply of things to do and sights to see in Tenerife.
And in this Tenerife blog I’ll share with you some of my top things to do in Tenerife.
In my opinion, 5 days in Tenerife is good time to see the best that city has to offer. But if you can spare couple of days more that’s even better, you can take the sights more slowly. Here are the best things to see in Tenerife along with a list of the most interesting things to do in Tenerife:
1. Siam Park
On a hot summer day there can’t be a better idea than to visit Siam Park.
The water park has several fun rides, water slides, tubing wave pool and a wave machine.
Young children have their own tiny pool so they can have fun too. Life guards as well as staff keep watch on the guests at all times.

- The highlight of the place includes the Thai theme on which it is based on.
- Easy to get to Siam Park is located in Costa Adeje.
- to reach there take the free bus from Tenerife.
- Siam Park was opened in September 2008.

2. Teide National Park
Teide National Park is a forest reserve of national importance found in the Tenerife region.
You can either walk or enjoy riding a bicycle through the lush greenery. You will find plenty of climbing and adventure opportunities in here.

- Spread over an area of 189.9 km², the highlight of Teide National Park includes lunar landscape, cable car ride to the summit of Mount Teide, a humongous volcano, and the landmark Roque Cinchado column, a natural rock formation.

3. Loro Park
A popular zoo in Tenerife, Loro Park shelters a variety of animals.
If you get tired you can sit in the on-site cafe and relax. The zoo also hosts daily talks and regular events such as feeding demonstrations and photography workshops.

- Spread over an area of 13.5 hectare, the highlight of Loro Park includes dolphin and sea lions show, a splash zone and sea world.
- Some of the notable animals include penguins and gorillas.
- Easy to get to Loro Park is located in outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz.
- Loro Park is also known as Loro Parque.
- Some of the most popular exhibits that can be seen here are Katandra Treetops, Loro Show, Leones Marinos.

4. Playa de Las Teresitas
Playa de Las Teresitas is a small picturesque beach with soft sand and clear blue waters.
Interestingly, the sand you see is imported and Playa de Las Teresitas is classified as a man made beach. You’d be surprised how it was earlier, a rocky beach with black sand!
And if you need a bite, there are vendors around the beach. Sun loungers offer a great way to relax.

- The small beach is located near the village of San Andrés.

5. Jungle Park
A nice city zoo sheltering a myriad of animals.
Visiting Jungle Park is a fun and educational day out for the whole family. You’ll meet a wide array of primates including gorillas, orangutans and chimpanzees.

- Spread over an area of 19 acres, the highlight of Jungle Park includes bird show, and the natural landscape which includes walking paths, suspension bridges, caves and waterfalls.
- The zoo is located near Los Cristianos beach.

6. Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín
Auditorio de Tenerife Adán Martín is modern building in Tenerife with a strikingly modern look.
The building adheres to the modern principles of building – air, light, efficiency and comfort.

- The highlight of the place includes landmark wavelike curving design.
- The modern building is located on Avenue of the Constitution.
- This whole structure that you see was the brainchild of Santiago Calatrava.
- The modern building houses an arts complex and an auditorium.

7. Pico Viejo
A volcano at a high elevation with a towering peak.

- The volcano has a height of around 3,135m.
8. Cueva del viento
Cueva del viento presents a very unique experience of walking through a lava tube. It is amongst the top five largest lava tube in the world. It features several chambers and level, making it a complete labyrinth. Of-course the only way to safely explore this is via a guided tour..

9. Casa de los Balcones
Casa de los Balcones is an old building with interesting history associated with it.
One look and you will realize that it inherits the rich heritage of the Tenerife itself.
A great example of traditional architecture, the building also includes a folk art & crafts museum.
Set in the heart of Tenerife’s historic district, the Casa de los Balcones is visible for kilometers around, creating an imposing spectacle amid the city’s other ancient structures. Casa de los Balcones is a grand edifice that adds to the square’s grandeur.

Coast on a bike or take a long slow stroll, Parque García Sanabria is the place to get away from the crowds. Parque García Sanabria provides the visitors with a much needed break from the hustle and bustle of Tenerife.

- Spreading over an expanse of 7 ha, it’s difficult to see it all in one go.
- Parque García Sanabria was opened in 1926.
11. Playa del Duque
Playa del Duque offers you a quick access to one of the finest sandy spots close to the Tenerife city.
It is surrounded by an upmarket area with a number of designer shops and high-end boutiques.
Swim, surf, sunbath, walk, run or play – you can sketch your day as you want. If you like seafood, the restaurants here are a good option.
If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Tenerife trip.
12. Playa de las Vistas
Playa de las Vistas is a well developed beach featuring soft sand, beach cafes, umbrella rentals, food vendors and swimming.
It is one of the tourist-friendly beaches, with the facilities one would need. In summer when things heat up in Tenerife, a day at the nearby Playa de las Vistas beach is all you need.
13. Punta Teno Lighthouse
Punta Teno Lighthouse is a well known lighthouse located off the coast of Tenerife.
It has been an important signal point to warn incoming ships away from the shoreline. With a beautiful beach nearby you can combine the visit to two.
Do plan in advance as visitor hours are quite limited. You pay a small fee to get in.
Quick Facts:
- The highlight of the place includes the dreamy rocky headland landscape.
- Easy to get to Punta Teno Lighthouse is located in the municipality of Buenavista del Norte.
- Punta Teno Lighthouse was opened in 1897.
- This 20 metres tall structure is certainly magnificent to look at.

14. Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria
A beautiful addition to city’s architecture, Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is a house of christian worship located in Tenerife.
The church was given the designation of minor basilica in 2011 by the Pope Benedict XVI.
Frescoes and gold details adorn the ceiling of the church. It is well worth to pay a small donation, as it goes towards supporting the ongoing upkeep of this piece of history.

- Easy to get to Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria is located in Candelaria city.
- It is José Enrique Marrero Regalado who conceptualized and turned it into a reality.
- The church belongs to the Roman Catholic faith, but is visited by others too.

15. Museum of Nature and Man
Museum of Nature and Man is an interesting museum depicting the natural history of the island with a light on local Guanche culture.

- The highlight of the place includes mummies belonging to Guanche period.
- The nhm was opened on 1958.
- Grab the audio guide on your way, it’s quite helpful.
If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Tenerife trip.

16. Botanical Garden
Botanical Garden is a large expanse of green located in the very heart of Tenerife.
The garden was created to help in the scientific study of plants for research and medicinal purposes.
Flora and fauna from all parts of the world are on display here. Plants belonging to different climatic conditions can be found here – tropical, subtropical and savannah.

- The highlight of the place includes a fig tree which is 200+ years old.
- Botanical Garden was opened in 18th-century.
17. La Tejita
A nice wide beach, La Tejita has all the amenities you need to make for a great experience.
Remember, this is an award winning Blue Flag beach with amenities such as showers, lifeguard towers, drinking water and medical faciility. The restaurant at the beach serve a variety of seafood.
