If browsing through quirky art displays interests you, Bildmuseet is the one you should head to.
The museum presents well the contemporary works of the local as well as the international artists.
The very well maintained Bildmuseet museum is run by the Umea University. The museum also hosts cultural events regularly.
The collection is speread out amongst the art pieces belonging to quirky installations, electronic art experiences and experimental photography. The multimedia exhibits with a clever mixe of sound and light is a must watch.

Regular cultural performances are also held here, check their website before visit. I particularly liked getting to know about the native Sami people.

- It was in 2014 Pending review when it was established.
With so much to offer, no wonder Guitars, the Museum is one of the top things to do in Umeå.

Umedalen skulpturpark is a large park filler with interesting stone sculptures.

6. Nydala Lake
Nydala Lake is a calm and beautiful body of water located in Umeå.
There is also a park on shore, with a playground for little ones too. The lake has a serenity around it that wraps up on you quickly.

7. Nydalasjön
Nydalasjön is an alluring lake, a drop from heaven with clean, clear water.
If you like bird watching, this is the place to go, as the area is home to over hundred-fifty different species of migrating birds. With water so clear that you can see through, swimming is a good option.

- Spread over an area of 146 ha, it is difficult to take-in all in one go.
- It has a max depth of about 6 meters.
8. Umeå City Church
Umeå City Church, one of city’s medieval church, is one of the city’s many architectural gems.
As this is a sacred location, anyone who want to enter are advised to cover their knees and shoulders. There is so much beauty in this church, from the front facade to the interior that it’s hard to choose a favorite.

- It is actually Fredrik Olaus Lindström who is credited with designing this whole place.
- Umeå City Church was opened in 1894.
If you have time, it makes for a nice addition to your Umeå trip.

9. Döbelns Park
Döbelns Park is a beautifully landscaped park spread over a large area in Umeå.
It will not be wrong to say that Döbelns Park is truly an icon of landscape architecture.
The gardens are beautiful in nearly every season, but if there’s one time of year to visit, it’s around spring season.. Scattered around the park are many paths encouraging you to walk, jog or bike.
