On an elephant, Goddess Chamundi rides from the Mysore Palace to Bannimantap, where she is worshipped (related to the auspicious Banni tree). According to legend, the mantapa in which the deity is enshrined is made of gold.
The parade attracts a large audience, and standing in the scorching sun can be very uncomfortable. During the parade, you’ll also see a variety of entertainers, including musicians, dancers, and even clowns, attempting to keep the crowd amused.
In addition, the Mysore Palace has been lavishly ornamented and illuminated with about 100,000 (one lakh) light lights. There are also a number of cultural events held on the royal grounds.

The city zoo is the next stop on your two-day Mysore tour.

If you’re just in Mysore for a day, it’s possible to include this historic church on your itinerary.
Dedicated to St. Philomen, it is an antique church. Neo-Gothic style, which is widespread in Europe but rare in India, was used to build the church in 1936.
